FORMULATION

Each film created tablet contains: Losartan Potassium 50mg.

INDICATION

Hypertension: May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents, including diuretics. Hypertensive Patients with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy: Losartan Potassium reduces the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. Nephropathy in Type 2 Diabetic Patients: For the treatment of diabetic nephropathy with an elevated serum creatinine and proteinuriea (urinary albumin to creatinine ratio > 300mg/g) in patients with type 2 diabetes and history of hypertension.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adult Hypertensive Patients: Usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily. 25mg dose maybe given to patients with possible depletion of intravascular volume. Hypertensive Patients with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy: Usual starting dose is 50mg once daily. Dosage maybe increased to 100mg of hydrochloro-thiazide 12.5mg maybe added based on the blood pressure response. Nephropathy in Type 2 Diabetics Patients: Usual starting dose is 50mg once daily. Dose maybe increased to 100mg based on the blood pressure response, Losartan maybe administered with insulin and other commonly used hypoglycemic agents(e.g., sulfonylureas, glitazones and glucosidase inhibitors.)

CONTRAINDICATION

Hypersensitivity to any component of this product and pregnancy.

SPACIAL PRECAUTIONS

Hypersensitive patients with electrolyte/fluid imbalance, Hepatic impairment, Renal impairment.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Dizziness, in rare cases rashes and angioedema.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Rifampin and fluconazole. NSAIDs including selective COX-2 inhibitors.
